Biography:
I grew up in Margarita Island, Venezuela. I come from an amazing family who has always taught me the importance of staying true to my values and principles. I graduated from high school when I was 16 years old and studied at the Metropolitan Private University in Caracas, Venezuela. I came to the United States in 2006 and started at Bergen in spring 2007. I recently received confirmation that I will be able to transfer to Yale University. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment.
Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I chose Bergen Community College because the institution provides non-native English speakers with basic language training. I was also interested in attending Bergen because they have knowledgeable professors. Additionally, I preferred a college that has an affordable tuition rate.
What advice would you give a prospective student?:
My advice to other students is that they shouldn’t give up on their dreams. Receiving a college education is very important and students should be thankful for such a wonderful opportunity.
What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
My favorite academic experience was my first day of classes for the spring 2007 semester. I will never forget how nervous I was but that feeling dissipated after I became comfortable with my professors and classmates.
Do you participate in other clubs or organizations while enrolled at Bergen? If yes, please list them here.:
I am the President of the International Student Association and a member of the Muslim Association and the Math Club. I also work in the International Student Center and really enjoy the camaraderie that I have with my co-workers. All students at Bergen are welcome to join any of the clubs that the College offers.
