Biography:
I worked as a manager in the automotive industry for 25 years before my company went out of business. Faced with unemployment, I took a chance on a career change and decided to attend college. However, I graduated from high school 30 years ago and wasn’t sure if I had made the right choice for myself or my family. Fortunately, I had the unconditional support of my wife and children and decided to face this new challenge.
Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I chose Bergen because of its reputation as a quality institution. The school is also comprised of people of diverse ages. I enjoy attending classes with older, non-traditional students because I feel a sense of comfort and familiarity. This critical component separates Bergen Community College from many four-year institutions.
What advice would you give a prospective student?:
Do not underestimate your own abilities. Before coming to Bergen, it had been 30 years since I had opened a textbook. But through hard work and perseverance, I’m able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. The best advice that I can give any student is to READ through the course material several times. It’s also important to take advantage of every opportunity the school offers. Take your schoolwork seriously!
What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
The professors have been tremendous. I have strong relationships with several professors in the Information Technology department and they have been instrumental in my success.
Do you participate in other clubs or organizations while enrolled at Bergen? If yes, please list them here.:
Most of my free time is spent studying and more recently working. However, I do belong to Phi Theta Kappa because I believe it’s important to give back to the community.
