Degree Seeking:
A.A.S.

Biography:
I'd worked in many fields such as construction and manufacturing, and with sales and distribution companies and industries for some years in Africa. Thereafter, I ran my own small-scale horticulture and landscaping business for a few years in Nigeria. I had two years study in marketing, and three years study in geography back in Africa. Presently, I work as a shipping clerk in a non-profit organization, Daw Publications, in East Rutherford. As a shipping clerk, I am learning about postal security and regulations which is related to aspects of criminal justice such as postal policing and investigation.

Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I chose Bergen because of its high reputation among two-year colleges in New Jersey and in the country as a whole. Though I live nearer to some other colleges than Bergen, I preferred Bergen to them all because of its standards. I visited a few other two-year colleges before deciding to attend Bergen; I saw big differences in terms of facilities, staff, and students. I appreciate the learning facilities available at Bergen, the school library, and its huge parking lots. Moreover, the students are more mature, friendly and well behaved; likewise the staff and the instructors. It’s just a great school to attend. Personally, I wish Bergen were made a four-year college so I could further my studies.

What advice would you give a prospective student?:
Whatever you admire, desire it. Whatever you desire, concentrate on it. Whatever you concentrate on, you will become—it’s just a matter of time. Please desire the best and work towards the best. The opportunities are there around you, make good use of them all. The staff, instructors, counselors, and students in the school are always there to guide and assist you; respect them and make good use of them.

What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
Participating in the honors program, my induction into the Phi Theta Kappa, and the friendship and kind gestures from the counselors, staff and instructors such as Mr. Pride, Mrs. Garry, Mr. Flax and others.
