I am a second-year student at Bergen, majoring in theatre arts. I have been involved with performing arts my whole life and being able to pursue my dream at Bergen has been extremely fulfilling. In addition to studying theatre in college, I participate in a variety of local theatrical productions and am a member of a few production companies such as “Sold Out Shows Productions,” a NJ nonprofit community theatre group that raises much needed funds for the local youth arts. I also serve as a volunteer firefighter in my hometown.

I wanted to go to a school where the professors actually care about the students and address them by name, not by number like most big colleges and universities.

Bergen Community College is definitely a great starting point for any prospective college student. Besides being a great school, after you complete the work for an associate’s degree here, you can transfer to any four-year college in the country and you will have acquired both the experience to know what college is all about, and the ability to make it through your final two years.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of my high school English classes, and I was actually apprehensive about taking college-level English. Although, a funny thing happened when I came to Bergen. Suddenly, I began enjoying my English classes. I was very much into the books that we were reading, and I was always participating in class discussions about great literature, styles of writing and creative thought. I can proudly say that I am doing very well in English now and am considering becoming an English teacher in the future.
