A.A.

Biography:
Hi, my name is Steffanie. I graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 2004 and started at Bergen Community College in the fall of that year. I have enjoyed my experience at Bergen and will graduate this winter. Bergen is an excellent school and has been a good first step towards accomplishing my lifetime goals.

Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I am a New Jersey STARS student. The New Jersey STARS program provides a community college scholarship to high school seniors that graduate in the top 20% of their class. This was the main reason why I chose Bergen. Another reason is because of its credentials. Bergen is one of the best community colleges in the country and I knew it would be a good place for me to make the transition from high school to college life.

What advice would you give a prospective student?:
For prospective students entering Bergen, I would encourage you to not be nervous and, instead, be confident. If you put in the work and commit yourself to a college education, your experience at Bergen will turn out to be a rewarding one. Bergen is a place to be proud of and the education you'll receive here is just as good as that of any four-year-college.

What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
My proudest academic experience at Bergen was my induction into the two-year-college honor society, Phi Theta Kappa. Getting inducted into Phi Theta Kappa showed me that all the work I put into my classes had paid off. It is a great privilege to be a part of the honor society and being a part of it only helps me work harder towards achieving my college goals.
