Biography:
Right after high school I was unsure whether or not college was for me. Coming from a family where no one has ever earned a college degree made me actually question myself. I decided to join the military in 2003. During my time in the service, I realized that education was just as important there as anywhere else. Although I was a great soldier, I was not going to move up in rank without an education. After a long deployment to Iraq, I finally came home in December of 2005. Although I was anxious about going to college when I got out of the service, I finally enrolled for the spring semester in January 2006. So far I have completed one semester and I must say that it has definitely built up my confidence. I am glad I made the right decision to finally go to college. I am currently majoring in liberal arts in hopes of graduating from Bergen and later transferring on to a four year university to get my B.A. degree in education.
Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I actually chose Bergen because I have always heard that Bergen is a good school so I figured I'd see for myself.
What advice would you give a prospective student?:
Bergen is a college filled with professors who actually care about students and are always willing to give you extra attention. I would, without a doubt, recommend Bergen to anyone.
What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
I have had several good experiences at Bergen but there is one that stands out: Prof. Goodwin's English class. I have never met a professor like her before. She absolutely loves her students, wants each student to succeed, and goes out of her way to help them.
