Sarah Julien
Business Administration
Trinidad & Tobago
Biography:
I was born and raised in the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I migrated to the United States in the summer of 2005 at 16 with the intentions of finishing high school. However, I soon discovered that the educational system was entirely different from Trinidad's. I was unable to attend high school because, technically, I completed it in Trinidad, yet a four-year college was unwilling to accept me. Therefore, I decided to go to Bergen Community College because it was the best choice. I am currently aiming to earn my degree in Business Administration. Aside from academics, I am presently the Vice President of the Student Government Council, a Student Ambassador and a member of the Latin American Student Association (LASA), the Caribbean Club and the Filipino American Club.
Why did you choose Bergen Community College?:
I chose Bergen Community because it was affordable, convenient to travel to, and, also, a friend recommended it.
What advice would you give a prospective student?:
The future has many names, For the weak, it is the UNATTAINABLE; For the lazy, it is the UNKNOWN; For the bold, it is OPPORTUNITY. --(author unknown) Therefore, be bold. Take risks. And make the most of your present circumstances.
What has been your favorite academic experience so far?:
I have several memorable moments at Bergen; however my favorite academic experience was participating in Speech Fest. A professor suggested that I partake in the competition and it was the most exciting and challenging experience at Bergen.
