Why did you pick Bergen Community College?:
I decided to enroll at Bergen after visiting the campus and researching its course offerings. I had emigrated from Ecuador to the United States in 1998 and wanted to find a college that I was able to commute to from home. At first, I was interested in majoring in music, but later developed an interest in broadcasting. As time progressed, and I became adjusted to the coursework, I decided to get involved with extracurricular activities at the College. The one that caught my attention was the Student Government Council. It was here that I learned of my leadership abilities. I began as a Senator, and eventually was elected President of the SGC.
What did you like best about your college experience?:
My favorite experience at Bergen has been the wealth of knowledge I have received from each professor at the College, especially those in the communications department who have each contributed to my development as a student and as a person. In the past year, I have enjoyed every second to the fullest and more importantly, I have learned the fundamentals of organization, patience and time-management. I graduated in 2006, and on one hand, I am happy because I have completed the first part of my college education, but on the other, I am leaving my second home behind to continue my journey. Thank you for everything, Bergen!
What advice would you give a current/prospective student?:
I would recommend that new students make themselves aware of what goes on around campus. There are so many activities, clubs, and organizations to get involved in that every student will be able to find something they identify with.
Other colleges attended :
I am currently planning on transferring to either Montclair State University or Ramapo College.
