Career:
English Composition Instructor
Biography:
I was offered many scholarships but transferred to Yale University and graduated with honors in Languages. Now I am currently teaching composition and finishing up a Master Degree in English on full scholarship at Montclair State University. It is my hope that someday, I may return to Bergen – not as a student, but as a Professor.
Why did you pick Bergen Community College?:
I came to Bergen a few years after I graduated high school. I went to France to explore my love of foreign languages as a foreign exchange student for a semester. When I returned to the U.S. and lived on my own, although I was getting by and paying the bills, I quickly realized that I needed a college education. That is when I enrolled at Bergen. That is one of the best decisions I have made.
What did you like best about your college experience?:
At Bergen, I learned much more than the required course work. Though my involvement with the Student Government Council, the student Newspaper, and the Phi Theta Kappa, I realized my leadership capabilities. Bergen inspired me to study hard, and professors guided me to continue my education. By the time I graduated, I received many honors and awards and was even selected as the New Jersey Centennial Scholar by Phi Theta Kappa and the American Association of Community Colleges.
What advice would you give a current/prospective student?:
Take advantage of all of the opportunities provided at Bergen.
