Students must be accepted into a two-year degree program in order to obtain an I-20 form from Bergen Community College. This includes students who only want to study English. (Such students often apply to the Associate in Arts, Liberal Arts, General program.) There are some degree programs for which students on a visa cannot apply upon initial application. These are predominantly the Allied health programs, including nursing. It will be necessary to apply to a general program like the aforementioned Liberal Arts program before applying to an Allied Health program. This gives students the opportunity to take prerequisite courses, which are required to apply to a program.
